Marc Jacobs

Spring-Summer 2015 – A foreboding pink house welcomed the audience at Marc Jacob’s SS15 show, and with innovative silent disco headphones playing classical music, the expectations were for something bizarre. The opposite was true, however, with heavily influences from the army in dark green, grey and navy midi skirts cinched in at the waist with bulky shirts with big statement pockets. Flouncy, pleated skirts were enhanced with gold buttons.

Army backpacks with tags and an overload of accessories added to the army aesthetic. Brighter more conspicuous buttons began to multiply on massive pockets that resembled bags attached to the model. Shiny and matte fabrics were ruched as looks began to use buttons more heavily in diamond and stripe patterns and prints.

More experimental tailoring with elongated parka jumpers without sleeves turned the military aesthetic more futuristic with more smooth silhouettes and cleaner lines – more stylised and regimental. The final bow turned the looks into an army of inspired design.
