Marni Women Spring Summer 2016

Broad, billowing looks and layering are distinctive themes in this season, giving the collection a completely different feel from last year. A white leather apron over a dark green shirt and palazzo pants opens the collection, previewing some standard shapes that would follow. Apron style covers with asymmetrically cutaway skirts showed differently colored skirts and mesh pieces beneath. Along with bright mesh, texture is added to pieces in the form of large, scaly sequins and circles sewn together in colorful shapes. Colorblocking and the appearance of a leafy pattern now and again interrupt the colorful looks, giving at once diversity and a uniformity through the collection. Black and white closed the collection, in more of the sewn together circles seen earlier, and long satiny pieces.

Flat leather bags in bright colors have oddly mechanical looking handles, combinations of metal and a wide leather strap. Architectural slingbacks have a gracefully shaped sole and a square heel, comprised of strips of leather in different colors and widths. Round glasses bordered in colorful shapes accessorize looks, along with dangling statement earrings and stacks chunky, square bracelets.
