Julien Macdonald

Spring-Summer 2015 – Julien Macdonald describes his designs as ‘sexy, high octane, powerful and liberating.’ And, boy, did he deliver. By incorporating sheer material into his designs, Julien Macdonald’s collection remained sexy and revealing in spite of the frequent high necklines and tea length dresses. Furthermore, the amalgamation of navy, violet, fuchsia, red and canary yellow with nude tones continued to emphasise the sensual vibe running through the collection.

The collection exuded femininity, especially through the frequent presence of ruffles on the pieces, which strived and succeeded in highlighting the female form, especially with the occasional body suit that featured in the collection. As the collection goes on, we start to see more of the glitz and glamour associated with Julien Macdonald, with the arrival of floor sweeping gowns, which featured gold and sliver sequins and flowing, slightly sheer material. Julien Macdonald’s Ready-to-Wear collection seemed to be centred around a floral pattern, allowing the designs to further exude femininity and elegance.

Hair was slicked back in a severe centre parting, with dark brown shades of makeup used in order to contour the face and emphasise the eyes of the model, yet preventing the distraction from the collection. Nude, laced up, high-heeled sandals were worn.
