Ann Demeulemeester

Autumn-Winter 2013/14

Ann Demeulemesster brought a feeling of calm serenity to Paris Fashion Week as models looking almost virginal in flowing white dresses came drifting down the catwalk. It was an understated and unhurried collection, which focused on how sometimes the simplest looks can be the most effective.

The collection had a definite 90s aesthetic, models were wearing floor length, sweeping, oversized dresses and skirts paired with Dr Martins, bowler hats and just-got-out-of-bed hair. The whole effect was as if we were somehow back in the 90s, except everything was cleaned up. Ann added a pristine edge to the clothing, it felt 90s but it wasn’t grungy. She took grunge, gave it a scrub and produced something all together more feminine.
