Nina Ricci Women Spring Summer 2016

Guillame Henry’s second collection for Nina Ricci was one of charismatic and elegant style.  Long fine feathers were attached to the straps of his handbags, and sheer long sleeved tops were paired with patent ostrich leather skirts in mustard yellow.  In fact, ostrich leather was the material of choice for French designer’s SS16 collection, and was used to fashion trench coats, mules, and handbags as well as his standout skirts.

Henry’s love of luxe and animal materials created a sense of artistic direction combined with Parisian chic: simple structures and tailoring were made exceptional by the designer’s use of lavish fabrics and subtle accents of colour; the palette being mainly neutral grey and black and oyster silk, with jolts of murky reds and greens.  Make up was kept minimal and very fair, with oxblood red lipstick being the only colour to stand out on the otherwise pale faces of the models.  Like his work for Carven, Henry is set to rework the aesthetic of Nina Ricci into one of sexy and powerful dressing.
