Autumn-Winter 2011/12 – Frida Giannini kept the 70s revival alive with the AW 11 collection for Gucci. She does it both glaringly and subtly. Flared trousers, mohair jumpers, all in muted tones of dusty pinks and mauves, browns and greys, burnt orange instead of garish brights, coupled with navy suits. The sharp three piece suits with subtle nods to the seventies, pockets sewn on the outside of jackets, flared trousers, print handkerchief peeking out of the breast pocket. This is a classy fashion conscious man of the times. Document wallets (not clutch bags), and big bowling bags were the choice of luggage. Corduroy, faux fur and velvet were the choice of outerwear. Decadence and luxury was strife. Large buttons on well-tailored coats, velvet.  The shoes were softer, less clumpy than other recent menswear collections and the men sported long scarves to the floor. A very sharp, desirable look.
