Carven

Carven Women Spring Summer 2016 –

Carven was all about retro vibes: Like the disc necklaces of the AW15 show, a disc motif theme ran throughout the SS16 collection, whether incorporated to the bottom of a shirt or a skirt, or created within the crazy graphics of a tee. In fact, graphics were big news, with the discs resized, reshaped, and coloured into many different ways. The result kind of resembled a biology cell diagram, but we dig it.

Flares were everywhere, as was feminine tailoring: off white short suits with a silken upturn, a button-through utility dress (they’ll be everywhere next season – make sure you snap one up!) a cuffed shirt, grey butter soft leather fashioned into a jumpsuit and skirt. The retro craziness reached its peak with the satin midnight blue trouser suit (which was stunning), but Alexis Martial and Adrien Caillaudaud did not stray too far from their kooky Carven girl ideal, and incorporated cutesy skirts and dresses into the mix, along with some cool colour clashes of purple and orange.
