Balenciaga

Balenciaga Man Spring-Summer 2017 – Demna Gvasalia’s debut men’s collection for Balenciaga had been the brand’s first men’s runway assemblage in its history, making it a highly anticipated moment in the fashion calendar. Ultimately, the catwalk displayed a variety of silhouettes, especially in terms of the jackets on show, from heavily structured and oversized, to shrunken, neatly tailored numbers. These were paired with high waisted, severely tailored trousers and tanned leather belts tied tightly, allowing the trousers to fall in folds at the waist. Gvasalia appeared to favour thick, tweedy materials coupled with hardy scuba wear such as a green padded bomber jacket that drew gasps of admiration from the crowd. Models sported edgy accessories and footwear such as white patent knee-high boots, complementing the eclectic styling perfectly. Pieces were contrasting in materials, textures and shapes, but largely seemed to work together to form a coherent finished look. Overall, the Balenciaga SS17 collection was undoubtedly challenging and edgy, but not without a sense of authority and cool.
