Whistles to launch menswear

Led by former Topshop boss Jane Shepherdson, the mid-range label has been something of a success story of late. With a host of fashionista celebrity fans recently spotted in the brand’s clothes including the Duchess of Cambridge, Olivia Palermo, and Alexa Chung, the company reported a 24 percent increase in sales in 2012.

Now Whistles is announcing a move into menswear for Autumn-Winter 2014 (meaning we should expect to see the first hints of the pieces in January next year).

“Menswear is something that we have been planning to do since we started in 2008,” said CEO Jane Shepherdson.

A new menswear team has been formed under the creative direction of the brand’s chief designer Nick Passmore — who are already working on mood-boards — and the clothes will hit stores in September next year.

Prices should match the current womenswear offer where jeans are sold for around £100 (€120) and outerwear reaches up to £950 (around €1,100). The collection will go on sale in select department stores, in key Whistles stores and online.
