Paris menswear: highlights from Comme des Garçons, Givenchy, Henrik Vibskov

Comme des Garçons

Rei Kawakubo served up her take on African dictateur chic with a mix of military and safari jackets, animal accent prints and tailored shorts. Things came of course, with the typical Comme des Garçons twist: models wore comedically pointed shoes (as well as more practical winkle-pickers) and honeycomb mesh overlays.

Givenchy

Sharp black tailoring was the order of the day at Givenchy, paired throughout with black bovver boots with white laces. Riccardo Tisci also sent out a micro-floral that looked like a splatter print, monochrome stripes, utility pockets (on pants, jackets and tops), and plenty of fun sheer shirting.

Henrik Vibskov

The Danish designer teamed up with the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet for an open air experience which saw dancers splashing through a routine on a raised pool. It threatened to overshadow the clothes, but Vibskov didn’t disappoint with his intarsia knits, neoprene slip-on sneakers, painterly prints, and cut-and-braided double-faced jersey.
