Paris Fashion Week: Day Nine

Posted on

Paris Fashion Week has drawn to a close, but the final day did not disappoint in creativity.

Kicking off today’s events, Nicholas Ghesquière presented space-age urban explorers for Louis Vuitton. Futuristic cuts, wild prints and oversized fur characterised this mesmerising collection. Famed for its accessories, the models sported square metal travel cases, embellished clutches, fur totes and kitten-heeled pumps. The star of the show was Freja Beha Erichsen in a huge white fluffy coat, suitable for a winter expedition.

At Miu Miu, mismatched patterns and textures brought these practical looks to life. The juxtaposition of snakeskin, plaid, houndstooth and animal prints showed a sense of humour and an element of surprise. Ruffled blouses resembling Victorian bathers and Directoire-style oversized collars displayed Miuccia Prada’s eclectic historical influences. An emphasis on layering gave the ensembles a unique sculptural quality. This vibrant fun collection showed an optimistic take on Autumn/Winter fashion.

Giambattista Valli presented equestrian chic at Moncler Gamme Rouge. Sharply tailored tweeds, quilted jackets and red coats were paired with riding hats, which embodied the spirit of the English countryside. Fox fur and shearling are incorporated into these looks, as an allusion to country hunting pursuits. One look in particular featured a fur muff, a Renaissance style designed to keep the hands warm. These traditional looks were brought to the modern day with elements of PVC raingear.
