Dries Van Noten

Dries Van Noten Man Spring-Summer 2017 – Dries Van Noten’s incredible SS ’17 men’s collection in Paris had been met with great excitement and anticipation, and it did not disappoint. This was an incredibly texture rich runway, with models sporting heavy fringing, rich embroidery, excessive embellishment and interesting patchwork, all of which created an undoubtedly diverse set of style. Pattern also played a huge role as part of the collection, with 70’s style designs being revived through Van Noten’s garments. Shades of colour were fairly neutral and earthy, with beiges, browns and greens all contributing to the vintage vibe. In terms of fit, clothing was unstructured and flowing, adding to the undoubted sense of ‘cool.’ Hair and accessories tended to be natural and minimal, allowing the clothes to do the talking. Models wore clunky leather boots and shoes, adding a more definitively masculine feel to the collection. Overall this was a show that oozed authority and wasn’t without that signature rustic edge.
