Vionnet

Vionnet Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – In a collection inspired by classical music, allusions to instruments especially the piano and accordion, which also formed the background playlist, were continuously present at Vionnet.

The multiple monochrome designs at the beginning of the show subtly evoked piano keys as did the white pinstriped suit trousers that made use of geometric lines to transform elegant formal dressing.

Other dresses had an accordioninspired pleated sections across the breast or slightly off the shoulder, the structures of which contrasted the sheer fabric draped over the model’s shoulders and the flowing pleated black skirt of the designs.

These elements of structure were combined with the liquid draping so often associated with the brand. The skirts flowed out ethereally teamed with plunging Vneck necklines or roundnecks which emphasised the shoulders as a source of sexappeal.

Cut outs and thighhigh slits emphasised this further with additional fabric also often added to many designs, bringing a further sense of freeing movement to the pieces, which echoed the flow of a musical score.
