Temperley London

Temperley London Woman Spring Summer 2017 – Temperley London for Spring Summer 2017 was a whirl of girly, sun kissed, feminine designs. As is Alice Temperley’s moniker, the expectation of lustful, bohemian yet lavish finishes was accurate.

The catwalk, Temperley’s masterpiece, was a selection of whimsical yet fresh creations. The designer’s penchant for patterns, embellishments and sequins was identified throughout the rainbow coloured collection. A variety of materials were chosen for the collection, from chiffon for the ruffle covered dresses or sheer materials to add a risqué edge and emphasise the prints.

Dresses were long and floating, ranging in lengths from slightly above the knee to floor length. They showed off the designers love of quirky prints, with colourful building designs, embroidered floral designs of various flowers, stripes and repetitive patterns. These prints were bright, and there did not appear to be any restriction on the various colours used. An aqua halterneck dress was decorated with orange lines, pink, blue and green frills, and florals which contained pinks, yellows, oranges, blues, reds, and greens. Sequins were arranged in multi-coloured stripe patterns on floor-length dresses with a kimono style top. Frills were found on many dresses, again decorated with the variety of patterns.

Alongside dresses the designer also included oversized coats, sequin jumpsuits, bright waistcoats, playsuits and puffed out full skirts. The collection had elements that were loose and oversized yet there were also figure-hugging bodices, and these restored the designers stress on womanliness.

Temperley London staples were maintained throughout the leopard print and monochrome pieces. Blouses with high neck ruffles and ruffled sleeves were designed in leopard print with patches of pink. The classic blouse style was extended onto a similar leopard print dress, with full long sleeves, and also a thigh high slit and sleeve slits. The black and white pieces within the collection followed classic lines, with classic shaped culottes, a traditional waistcoat, and ankle length dresses. Again these designs were infiltrated by the abundance of colourful patterns.

The summer dream was not only created through the clothing but also by finishing touches to the models. Candyfloss pink streaks were added to some models hair, complementing the summery style. Accessories were also very summery. Models had lightweight scarves tied around their necks in a choker style, and these had a number of contrasting patterns and colours. The summer theme was additionally fulfilled by sunglasses worn by the models, and these ranged from dark black to gold opaque shades.
