Sonia Rykiel

Sonia Rykiel Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – There was something slightly rocker school-girlesque about many of the pieces of Sonia Rykiel’s collection with a long red tweed jacket layered over black separates given additional punch through a thick furry trim around the collar and the look beneath almost completely sheer.

The same was true of a later pinafore-inspired design with incorporated white blouse that had a leather clutch belted around the waist and zany red and black tights to intensify the youthful vitality of the look.

This sense of both innocence and independence was echoed throughout the collection, with a combination of tailored jackets and slightly flowing skirts and trousers ramped up in attitude by the use of leather, more fur and nude undershirts.

Bright red colours, faded denim as well as horizontally striped designs added additional drama to long dresses, many with multiple layers and pleated details that ensured a fun rather than sensual silhouette was created.

A particular highlight were the sequin designs, covering jackets, jumpers and dresses alike, which combined sharp tailoring, teenager experimentation and nighttime glamour, but by the end of the collection it was clear that the Rykiel girl had truly grown up with almost completely sheer dresses decorated with provocative gold lace the final looks.
