Tom Ford
Spring – Summer 2014 – Long Legged, luxurious warriors in fierce leather armour oozed athletic seduction. True to form, Tom Ford provided tailoring in full force, offering a wardrobe that makes head-turning entrances. His woman doesn’t do easy dressing, just flawless lace, sequins, sheer fabrics and killer thigh-high boots.
Looking past the overhaul of fabulously sexed-up attire and intricate detailing of pieces like the glittering, mosaic playsuit, Ford did show some momentary restraint. A couple of tuxedos (either black or white) teamed with high-waisted trousers ruffled by a wide-shouldered fur coat with sheer panelling down the front, for the more classic inclined customer. Controversially designed for ultra-rich young women, as usually high fashion casts for a boarder scale, the climatic moment of the collection had to be spidery, second-skin lace and the crisp white, panelled jacket simply buttoned at the top: such strong structuring and lavish indulgence make an interesting ultimatum for our cut-loose era.
