Miu Miu

Miu Miu Women Spring Summer 2016 –

Miuccia Prada’s SS16 collection for her (little sister of Prada) brand Miu Miu was one of super quirky tailoring and plenty of fur. Her signature ruffles adorned shirts and dresses, while prints were adorned on leather jackets and skirts. The overall effect of the collection was one of subverting Japanese Kawaii; black lipstick and headbands gave a Gothic feel, while platform lace up boots were constructed out of mismatched fabrics and colours. Sheer shirts were layered over dresses, while racoon tails were pinned on to the belts as an accessory.
Miu Miu is known for its emphasis on shape and layering, and this collection was no exception: puffed out sleeves underneath pinafore-style dresses gave a prim, doll-like quality to the pieces. This was accentuated by cutesy Mary Jane style platforms and miniature snakeskin handbags. The overall effect was one of adorable eccentricity.
