Comme des Garçons

Autumn-Winter 2014/15 – Have you ever wondered who creates and designs the wardrobe for Doctor Who? I can tell you.. Comme des Garçons.

The artistic intention is clear from the start; it is as if he is trying to express his thoughts on decay due to the holes in the outerwear and show that things disintegrate and age.

Despite the line featuring the line of suits, ties have been omitted and a blend of trouser bottoms and shorts appear. The footwear is a cross between crocs and a psychedelic brogue.

The cuts and quality of the suits are distinct but the idea of clear cut outs of fabric create the edgy look but also vaguely destroy the smart element that a traditional suit would display.

I think the most intriguing element of the whole ensemble of the line is the way in which the models’ hair is styled; pulled to the front of the face, gelled and styled all over the face creates more of a statement than the clothes themselves.

A memorable line.
