Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – Held at the Ritz in Paris with an audience that epitomised the glitz and glamour that comes so naturally with Couture, Versace opened Couture Fashion Week. The premise of the collection seemed to be straps and buckles. This meant sculpted body-con minidresses to fabulous show-stopping, jaw-dropping gowns, here, the straps and buckles moulded shape before billowing synthetic fabric cascaded from the waist downwards. The shoes had straps and buckles coiling high round the ankle, reinforcing this visionary. At times the collection seemed sea-like with aqua blues, sea greens, and barrier reef coats and dresses, along with an array of glittering, shimmering dresses in green, purple, yellow and baby pink. Flashes of skin showed through sheer dresses and high slits or plunging necklines were pertinent throughout the show – this is Versace after all, so sex appeal is second-to-none.
