Wes Anderson takes Italian adventure with Prada

Posted on

Set in a chocolate-box version of 1955 in a small village named Castello Cavalcanti, Anderson’s seven-minute short features stylish motor races, old rural residents, and a quixotic café-bar.

Starring Jason Schwartzman as an Italian-American race-car driver and Italian actress and director Giada Colagrande as the barmaid, the film sees young Cavalcanti crash his automobile in the center of his ancestral village.

The film debuted Wednesday at the Rome Film Festival, and is the latest chapter in the ‘Prada Classics’ series, a selection of art, film and architecture projects which has recently seen Prada and Damien Hirst create an installation and pop-up store in the Qatari desert.

Anderson has previously worked with the Italian brand for the video commercials for Prada Candy L’Eau earlier this year, which he co-directed with Roman Coppola.
