Until now, Oscar-winning actress Meryl Streep held the record as the oldest ever Vogue magazine cover star, when she was shot for the US edition’s January 2012 issue at 62 years of age.

One of the queens of rock ‘n’ roll, Tina Turner has blown that record out of the water with a cover shoot for Vogue Germany‘s April 2013 edition. The 73-year-old star wears a blue gown by Armani, and was syled by Nicola Knels.

American singer Tina Turner, born Anna Mae Bullock, began her successful musical career with her guitarist (now-ex) husband Ike Turner. As a solo artist she went on to win eight Grammy awards and has sold over 200 million albums and singles worldwide.

A resident of Zurich, Switzerland since 1994, in January this year she was awarded Swiss citizenship. Alongside her musical career, Turner has made a number of film and TV appearances over the years including parts in “Ally McBeal”, “Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”, and The Who’s Rock Opera “Tommy.”
