Dubai Shopping Festival
January 2 – February 2
Dubai, UAE

First launched by the Dubai government in 1996, the annual festival is packed with shopping discounts, exciting events, competitions and shows. This year the festival will also give away $27 million worth of prizes including luxury cars, gold and cash.

London Collections: Men

January 6-8

This year the London Collections: Men hit its stride, tempting big names like Tom Ford, Rag & Bone and Jimmy Choo to join the menswear schedule in London. 2014 should be no different, as the biggest British and international brands assemble, with a focus this year on the fifth birthday of Fashion East’s Menswear Installations.

Pitti Immagine Uomo

January 7-10
Florence, Italy

One of the highlights on the menswear calendars, the tradeshow welcomes over 30,000 visitors and this upcoming edition features Andreas Melbostad, the creative director of Diesel Black Gold, as the menswear guest designer.

Milan Men’s Fashion Week 

January 11-14
Milan, Italy

During Milano Moda Uomo some of the biggest names in Italian fashion including Gucci, Prada, and Armani will be showing off their Fall-Winter 2014 looks.

Berlin Premium – International Fashion Trade Show

January 14-16 
Berlin, Germany

One of Northern Europe’s largest fashion tradeshows, Premium brings around 1,400 collections and over 60,000 trade visits to the German capital city. Running alongside the event is the more streetwear-focused Bread & Butter (held at Berlin’s Tempelhof airport).

Paris Men’s Fashion Week

January 15-19
Paris, France

With a glut of major shows from international designers, and a host of off-runway parties and presentations, Paris is the daddy of the menswear fashion calendar. Expect plenty of buzz about the upcoming Sterling Ruby and Raf Simons collaborative collection.

Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie
January 20-24
Geneva, Switzerland

Held at Palexpo in Geneva, around 13,000 visitors are expected to turn up for one of the watch calendar’s biggest events. Sixteen of the biggest names in the industry, including Cartier, Audemars Piguet, and Van Cleef & Arpels will have their latest models on display.

Who’s Next – Pret-à-Porter & Accessories tradeshow
January 25-28 
Paris, France 

The fashion trade show held at the Porte de Versailles expo center in Paris hosts 1,000 ready-to-wear brands and another 1,000 accessories labels. The French glove and leather goods federations will also come together to present an exhibition titled “La Main dans le Sac.”

Haute Couture Fashion Week
January 19-23 
Paris, France

The haute couture fashion show schedule is still in the works, but some of the biggest names are already down on paper including Atelier Versace, Chanel and Valentino. Expect Karl Lagerfeld’s usual theatrics when it comes to the Chanel show in the famed Grand Palais location.

British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund

Week of January 27 (TBC)

The annual womenswear prize from the BFC awards £200,000 to a lucky designer, as well as high-profile exposure and business support. Last year’s champion was Nicholas Kirkwood, adding further pedigree to a list of high-profile winners which includes Christopher Kane and Mary Katrantzou.

New York Fashion week
February 6-13 
New York City, USA

The biggest names in American womenswear like Michael Kors and Calvin Klein jostle up against the Big Apple’s hottest new designers. For Fall / Winter 2014 plenty of brands have announced a pared-down guest list, and new show locations, in an attempt to reduce the size of the ‘fashion circus’ and focus in on the clothes.

London Fashion Week

As usual Burberry will be the main highlight in London, but there are plenty of other big names to keep an eye out for including Tom Ford, Christopher Kane, David Koma and Mary Katrantzou. Mulberry won’t be sending out a runway collection, as the brand continues to search for a new creative director.

Milan Women’s Fashion Week
February 19-25

Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, Missoni — what else do we need to say? Italy’s best-known designers will be sending out their Fall-Winter 2014 collections. One of the usual standout brands Jil Sander is currently without a chief designer after the departure of the eponymous German fashion legend.

Paris Women’s Fashion Week

Paris rounds off over a month of womenswear shows with the regular fanfare of the industry’s biggest figures descending on the City of Light. Hong Kong International Jewellery Show
March 5-9 
Hong Kong

Early March sees Hong Kong welcome Asia’s largest jewelry show. Around 3,300 exhibitor from 49 countries & regions will hit the fair, which hosted over 42,000 buyers last year. In addition the Hong Kong International Diamond, Gem & Pearl Show will be taking place at AsiaWorld-Expo from March 3-7.

Novomania Shanghai

Shanghai, China

The event, which aims to raise awareness of exciting new Chinese and international brands, is now in its fifth year. Working in partnership with WHITE Milano for the first time, the Italian trade show will show off some top notch contemporary and premium designers in a separate space.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Tokyo is centered at Shibuya Hikarie and Mercedes-Benz Connection in Roppongi. Asia’s major fashion hub, the event is hugely important for both the Japanese and international brands showing and the buyers who visit the city.

41st Baselworld
March 27 – April 3
Basel, Switzerland

Baselworld is the watch world’s biggest annual get-together, with 100,000 visitors and 1,800 high profile exhibitors. Last year’s show featured an exclusive performance for Calvin Klein by Rita Ora, as well as Burberry’s debut at the event, so expect plenty more delights for 2014.

São Paulo Fashion Week
March 31 – April 4
São Paulo, Brazil 

Ahead of the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics, there will be plenty of focus on Brazil’s emerging fashion scene as the models hit the runway to show off the Summer 2015 collections by the country’s best designers. Look out for Alexandre Herchovitch and celebrity favorite Colcci.

Victoria & Albert Museum – Wedding Dresses

The Victoria & Albert Museum’s forthcoming exhibition is already building up a head of steam, with tickets selling like hotcakes online. The show will trace the development of the white wedding dress from 1775 up to the present day, exploring a series of key designers, techniques and trends on the way.

Met Ball (the Costume Institute Gala)

After ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’, 2014 will see the Met Ball celebrate the famed American couturier Charles James. Aerin Lauder will chair the event, with Oscar de la Renta, Sarah Jessica Parker, Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, Bradley Cooper and of course, Anna Wintour serving as co-chairs. As usual expect some dramatic costumes, and a star-studded evening.

CFDA Fashion Awards

The Council of Fashion Designers of America hosts their annual awards in June. With a range of gongs going to the top talents in American fashion, there’s also a coveted prize in the ‘International’ category, currently held by Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci. Expect a glittering summer evening.

ANDAM Fashion Award

Won in 2013 by emerging menswear talent Alexandre Mattiussi (who trained at Givenchy and Marc Jacobs), the prize gives one lucky young talent €250,000 to invest in their label, as well as some top business advice from industry leaders.
