PFW: grids and lines at Balmain

Posted on

Black and white played a special part on the runway at Thursday’s Balmain show. Just to name a few looks with this color scheme: an evanescent white dress, white hot pants paired with a structured white jacket, a black and white skirt with a white cape-like top, a black and white sleeveless vest, a white dress covered with a grid of black lines… the list goes on.

Touches of yellow, blue and red popped against this monochromatic backdrop. The dresses are generally mid-length to long, although a few rare pieces are hemmed just above the knee or at miniskirt length.

A few suits also made an appearance on the runway, before the show ended with a series of multicolored looks calling to mind the paintings of Mondrian, a reference also echoed in the recurring grid motif.

Modeling the looks were several star models, including Joan Smalls, Jourdan Dunn, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Saskia de Brauw, Andreea Diaconu and the young Kendall Jenner, who is slowly but surely becoming one of the top names in the fashion world.
