Parsons and Kering announce third student competition

Posted on

The third annual “Empowering Imagination” design competition has been announced by Parsons The New School for Design and luxury giant Kering, home to Gucci, Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.

In collaboration with Style.com, some of the top students from the school will battle it out to win internship places within Kering’s 22 luxury, sports and lifestyle brands.

Fourteen finalists will go through a mentorship program with Style.com, with their work shown off the site from May 20 through June 3. Their work will then be judged by a panel including Bottega Veneta creative director Tomas Maier, Paper Magazine’s Mickey Boardman, and Saks Fifth Avenue’s Senior Fashion Director Colleen Sherin. The judges will meet June 2 to decide the final two winners.

Last year’s winners, Harim Jung and Yunxiang Zhou, earned themselves places working at legendary Italian luxury labels Bottega Veneta and Brioni. Previous winners have interned with Gucci and McQ by Alexander McQueen.

The Alma Mater of designers Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford and Alexander Wang among many others, Parsons The New School is one of the most recognizable names in fashion. We can’t wait to see the latest generation of talent they’ve uncovered.
