NYFW: polka dots galore at Marc by Marc Jacobs

Posted on

A pattern that has long been associated with Marc Jacobs, polka dots are found throughout the latest collection, adorning skirts, baggy pants and coats. Black dots of various sizes were scattered over backgrounds of pale blue, yellow and white.

Very androgynous on the whole thanks to massive T-shirts, oversize coats and baggy pants, the collection nonetheless reflects a few feminine touches, such as the dainty bandeau tops worn over dress shirts and T-shirts on the runway. There are also a few ultra-feminine pleated skirts and dresses, usually worn over latex leggings.

Especially impressive were the hybrid dresses — bold feats of tailoring that prove Hillier and Bartley are right at home with the label.
