New York Fashion Week – Coach

Posted on

This season, Vever’s second ever womens ready-to-wear collection at Coach went with the power of youth. Riffing on surf, skate and musical subcultures, as well as classic workwear influences from the mid-West, it was a collection that felt set free from expectations.

Key to sense of fun and experimentation were the illustrated monsters created for the collection by the Californian artist and animator Gary Baseman, which appeared on shirts and intarsia knits, as well as in a silk print. That playfulness was transformed into the clothes, which included shaggy faux furs in pastel, studded leathers, jaguar prints, and hooded utility-pocket vests-tops.

Key, as ever with Coach, were the bags which included small metallic leather satchels slung over one shoulder and larger totes covered with Baseman’s illustrations. Footwear options included open-backed clog style loafers and platform pool-slides.
