In an email obtained by WWD, the White House delivers the details of the event, as reported by Buro247: “The purpose of this event is to bring members of the fashion industry to the White House and enlighten, educate and mentor the next generation of fashion leaders.”

Students from various colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York and Washington will attend the educational workshop. Prabal Gurung is among the established designers expected to be present.

The same website reports that a White House official stated the following to WWD: “On October 8, the White House will hold a fashion education workshop that will connect students with leading fashion professionals — from designers to magazine editors to fashion technologists — to show young people what it takes to succeed, and how important it is for the next generation to commit to their education.”

The workshop will precede the White House’s Celebration of Design reception, which Naeem Khan, Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg and Thakoon are slated to attend.
