Opening Ceremony
Founded by Carol Lim and Humberto Leon back in 2002, the New York City fashion boutique has gone from strength to strength ever since. The two creative directors are of course now employed as design chiefs at Paris fashion house Kenzo, but continue to create innovative collections and capsule collaborations back home in NYC under the Opening Ceremony banner. The store mixes the brand’s own lines with some of the hottest names in fashion including Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane, and Moschino.

Electric Nest
Founded by owner of Electric Feathers, designer Leana Zuñiga, Electric Nest is located on the south side of Williamsburg. Inspired by the designer’s travels and passion for collection one-off objects, the boutique was designed with artist and sculptor Facundo Newbery and features a giant glowing lantern sculpture. Alongside the Electric Feathers clothing line (fans of the brand include Marisa Tomei, Lauryn Hill and Kim Gordon), the store also stocks a highly curated selection of books, objects and accessories, as well as artisan fashion and jewelry pieces from other designers including Michael & Hushi, Salvor Projects, Dieppa Restrepo, and Anna Zet.

La Garçonne
Located at 465 Greenwich Street in the city’s Tribeca neighborhood, La Garçonne made the jump from online store to a physical location in May this year. Stocking a mix of emerging and established designers including 3.1 Phillip Lim, Helmut Lang and Vanessa Bruno, the boutique rocks a “refined, understated aesthetic” according to the team. The minimalist white space features blank wooden fittings and furniture, and alongside the ready-to-wear options there are also cosmetics from Comme des Garçons and Aesop, candles and porcelain objects for the home, and plenty of accessories.
