Kate Upton stars in new campaign for Sam Edelman

Kate Upton was one of the darlings of 2012, a breakthrough cover star for Vogue and other high-fashion editorials, and championed around the world by editors who embraced her curves and ‘girl next door’ appeal. But one thing eluded Kate all year: a major league fashion campaign.

In 2013 the model has got what she wanted. A new shoot by creative director David Lipman, produced in New York City for US shoe brand Sam Edelman, sees the 20-year-old model snapped in a series of black and white stills and a short film set to be released via the brand’s website.

Sam Edelman’s choice of the buxom blond for the latest campaign replaces previous star Charlotte Kemp Muhl. “We chose Kate because she isn’t stick thin. She’s beautiful and all-American,” Lipman told WWD.

Upton has been busy recently, appearing on the front cover for British Vogue and on the front cover of Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book. She also got into hot (and soapy) water last week for a Mercedes-Benz ad set to run during the upcoming Super Bowl in which she washes the brand’s new CLA model in slow-motion.
