Hyères festival announces 2014 festival lineup – Spike Jonze to judge

Posted on

This year the fashion jury is presided over by Kenzo creative directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, and Spike Jonze, who took home the Academy Award (his first) for Best Original Screenplay for his movie “Her” Sunday, has been announced as a member of the ten-person judging panel.

Other exciting names on the fashion jury include Maurizio Cattelan, the artist and regular Kenzo collaborator (via his Toilet Paper magazine), and actress and fashionista Chloé Sevigny.

After whittling down over 300 entries from around the world, the jury has selected the final ten young designers who will compete at the Hyères Festival between April 25 and 28. Alongside the €15,000 cash prize, the award is a significant boost to a young designer’s career and last year’s winner Satu Maaranen of Finland already has an upcoming collaboration with Petit Bateau. Plenty of big names have been awarded the prize in the past including Viktor & Rolf, Gaspard Yurkievich, Christian Wijnants and Lacoste creative director Felipe Oliveira Baptista.
