H&M teams up with Vanessa Paradis for new eco line

Vanessa Paradis has been announced as the face of the new Conscious line, manufactured from more sustainable materials. The 40-year-old actress and singer first rose to fame in her native France aged just 14, with her single “Joe le Taxi” before going on to a long career in music and cinema.

“I like being part of something like the Conscious collection at H&M. I try my best to shop consciously, and vintage is very much part of my wardrobe. I love the style and it works in an eco-friendly way because I like to use and reuse old clothes,” said Vanessa Paradis.

In the new campaign, Paradis wears items from the clothing line including a ruffle-edged yellow sundress, and an embellished zip-up utility jacket worn with botanical print trousers. The entire collection is made from more sustainable materials, such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and Tencel.

Other styles in the Conscious line include a floor-length dress, a sporty cropped jumpsuit and a tropical print T-shirt dress, while accessories include ankle-strap heels.

The full women’s collection will be available in H&M stores worldwide and online from the end of March 2013. There will also be Conscious collections for men featuring blazers, chinos, Ikat-print shirts and shorts — alongside fun prints for kids and babies.

Garment collecting is another major part of the brand’s initiative. Selected stores will allow customers to bring in up to two bags per day of unwanted garments (from any label). Customers dropping off old clothes will receive an H&M voucher to spend on new items from the Swedish brand.
