Fashion Week Paris: highlights from the last evening

Miu Miu
This extravagant collection turned the spotlight on synthetic materials and transparent effects through vinyl trench coats, see-through ankle boots in bright colors and a multitude of quilted nylon windbreakers. There were also plenty of sweaters, often accented with see-through stripes and worn under dresses. Fringes, graphic prints and bold color combinations were also seen.

Hermès
Loose-fitting tunics dominated the Hermès show, reflecting the season’s oversize trend. Many of the looks, including a black long-sleeved caftan richly embroidered with floral and geometric motifs, called to mind traditional Eastern European dress. Leather was among the most prominent materials in the collection, which featured a long-sleeved, brown crocodile leather top and a long black leather dress. One particularly striking detail: open-toed summer sandals worn over wool socks.

YDE
Gold accents, in light touches, offered a luxurious feel to the baroque prints in the YDE Fall-Winter 2014 collection. Satin was seen throughout the show, both in mini-dresses and maxi-dresses, and was often paired with shimmery materials. The tone-on-tone looks, either in white or black, were well received. One of the most striking of these paired a little white dress with a frilled white cape.
