Balmain X H&M Catwalk Show 2015

Ever since Olivier Rousteing announced his collaboration with H&M, that he was going to grace we mere mortals of the High Street with his Midas touch, twitter, instagram and facebook have been awash with excitement. There have even been a few sneakily taken leaks of the full collection, which have been circulating the Internet. But these brief glimpses into what the collection has to offer were nothing compared to the extravaganza of Rousteing’s Balmain X H&M catwalk show, which was held on Wall Street, New York City.

The theme? A subway station, but the commuters were not the usual bleary-eyed passengers of the rush hour. It’s no secret that Rousteing is as well known for his fabulous Fash-Pack as his designs, and Gigi Hadid, Jordan Dunn, Karlie Kloss, and Kendall Jenner were just a handful of supermodel names to grace the runway. The collection is truly Balmain in essence, with a much more affordable price tag. Power shoulders galore, cinched in waists, opulence, beaded patterns, faux fur, and thigh high boots: 80’s sexiness is embodied by Rousteing’s vision. The show was topped off by a surprise performance of the Backstreet Boys, which cemented Rousteing’s position as Prince of Celebrity Culture. Domination? Forget that, it’s been a #Balmaination.
