The correct order to apply hair products for silky smooth hair

Posted on

Healthy hair that is well taken care of is easy to comb and maintain, resistant to breakage, and healthy and full of life. One of the most important steps to having good hair is knowing the correct way to apply hair products. You do this every day, so it’s good to learn how to do it properly. Keep reading to learn how:

Step 1: Shampoo

A good haircare routine for silky smooth hair always begins with a good quality hydrating shampoo. This will help to cleanse the hair so that it’s easy to style, silky and swingy. Whatever you do, never use hot water when washing your hair as it loosens the hair follicles, increases hair loss, and dries the hair. Rather, use lukewarm or cool water and always dampen your hair before applying shampoo.

Gently massage the scalp and avoid using too much shampoo, as this can be drying to the hair. You can also use a really good salt shampoo that’s good at removing product build-up without damaging your hair.

Step 2: Condition/ Hair Mask

The next step is to condition your hair but before doing so, make sure to squeeze out all the water to ensure that the conditioner does not get diluted. Gently press the conditioner into your hair and apply it from the middle of the hair to the ends. Apply the leftover product to the scalp. Avoid applying too much conditioner to your scalp as it is mainly for your hair.

It’s also highly beneficial to apply a deep-renewing hair mask every other day. You can use it in the shower in place of your conditioner. Simply wash your hair, put the hair mask on, let it sit, and do everything that you’d normally do in the shower. You need only leave it on for about 5 minutes before rinsing it out. It’ll leave your hair hydrated, shiny, and glossy without weighing it down or making it oily.

Step 3: Seal in the Moisture

When your hair falls flat, it just might be because it’s not getting enough moisture. That’s why it’s so important to apply your favorite hair serum once you’ve washed and dried your hair gently with a microfiber towel. A little goes a long way so take a little bit and apply it to your mid-length and ends.

Step 4: Finishing Cream

If you’re going for a really glossy “glass hair” look, you can take it a step further by applying a really good blow-dry cream to help lock down that cuticle. Feel free to use as much product as you need in order to saturate the hair and provide it with all the heat protection it needs before blow-drying it.

Alternatively, use a lightweight cream to calm any flyaways and create a chic, professional look. This will give the hair an even smooth surface.

Step 5: Hair Oil

Last but not least, you can finish your routine by styling your hair with really good hair oil. Hair oil is particularly effective for frizzy hair that’s exposed to humidity. It’ll keep the hair smooth and keep it in place without making it feel greasy. Just make sure to use a lightweight hair oil that’ll leave you with softer and healthier hair.

Once you’ve applied your hair products in the correct order, you can proceed to style your tresses as you wish and enjoy your shiny, bouncy hair. Using your hair products in this order will keep your hair strong while also making it feel soft and supple to the touch. You’ll also find that it tends to shine more and retain moisture better.
