Versace Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – In a period where female empowerment has never been a hotter topic, Donatella Versace offered a firm reminder that she’d been addressing the issue for decades.

This season’s glamazons were adorned in a merging of military and sportswear influences. The result of which was an urban warrior, with sharp cuts creating a jagged silhouette, softened at first with the house’s rococo floral motif print. Prints where the main characters in this narrative, whether as a section of colour blocking or abstract wavy lines creating a distorted images.

The diversity of some simple silhouettes such as cropped flares, leggings, and slip dresses coloured with a mixture of pastels and bold colours made for psychedelic attire. Most necklines were either ribbed or wrapped in multi-coloured fur, whose appearance was otherwise nuanced elsewhere as dip dyed pastel coats.

There were hints of vinyl for skirts, and leather inserts to create a duplicity of toughness engaged in femininity. The elasticity of jersey dresses was emphasised with crosshatching chevron effects, and when paired with thin headbands the Versace woman looked ready for confrontation.
