Spring-Summer 2011 – Alber Elbaz shows a metro sexual man in his complex and varied collection for spring summer. With rounder shoulders on the jackets and tighter, tapered and slightly cropped trousers. He includes sheer tight tops with cowl necks and tight stretchy shorts. The cardigans and sleeveless jackets were looser, but still quite effeminate. He plays with textures, producing pieces that you want to reach out and touch, and ones that look rather starchy, a black and white striped soft draping shirt teamed with waterproof tapered trousers, striped silk in grey and peach and grey and green and cropped linen trousers that look like a luxury to wear. His accessories are a focal point, in that he offers chunky necklaces with leather and metal embellishments, sandals with excess material that make them almost boot like, and oversized bags, both strappy and clutch. There are definite similarities between men’s and women’s fashion in this collection.
