Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant Woman Autumn-Winter 2016 – British and French culture merged into perfect franglais style on the catwalk at Isabel Marant.

In an embodiment of the spirit and energy of the eighties, leopard and zebra print were clashed with vinyl jackets, skirts and trousers, shouting out for fun, loud and personality-led fashion.

Red and black vinyl were the colours of choice but alongside the rock-and-roll atmosphere they evoked were elegant details such as wrap-around skirts tied on the side with a bow and zip and buckle details on slightly high waisted trousers.

The zebra print flat boots with triple buckles were the perfect mix of practical flashiness and even trousers in the same print appeared super-wearable teamed with an oversized knitted jumper. This was true of the collection as a whole, with every standout piece brought back to wearability by romantic blouses and elegant knitwear, which covered everything from cream cricket jumpers to pullovers with decorative cut outs.

Loud animal print jackets appeared on occasion, often secured with three-dimensional black belts around the waist or used to give attitude to a pair of grey suit trousers. Oversized tweed coats and jackets were the cover-up of choice, however, bringing out a relaxed preppiness in Marant’s rock chick, to create a sense of sophisticated rebellion.
