Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – The supreme and unparalleled dressmakers that are the house of Valentino will inevitably leave one mesmorised, and that this was couture added extra-oomph in the clothing department. Co-directors Piccoli and Chiuri took otherwise basic items and transformed them into wonderfully elegant pieces like navy capes with sheer-fronts and navy jumpsuits gliding around the legs or becoming narrower from the waist-down. Shimmering garments have been pertinent all week and Valentino was no exception: sparkling black dresses, trousers and blouses were created with intricate beading. The moonlight tones from Armani transcended the Valentino colour-palette with shining navy and scintillating blacks yet in difference, floral prints alongside birds and trees covered both knee-length dresses and sweeping floor-length gowns in soft pinks. With pulled back hair and no jewellry, all focus was on the clothes which was perfect for the breathtaking finale soft gowns in lilac, red, black and navy.
