Stephane Rolland

Stephane Rolland Haute Couture Autumn-Winter 2016-17Stephane Rolland has shown the connection between modern art trends and fashion as he unveils his artistic collection.  The most important feature of this collection is the use of the bold shapes.  Some shapes drown out the body but others are used to accentuate the shape of the woman’s body.  The collection is mainly black and white with the focus being on the cut and shape of the garments.  Rolland himself has described this collection as “more like an art exhibition” and this could not be any closer to the truth.  In order to fully appreciate each piece one must look at it in great detail paying close attention to the shape and the movement and appreciating it like it is art.  Some of the designs are 3D with ruffles coming out of the dresses.

This collection is fundamentally groundbreaking as it is so daring.  Rolland also draws on early 1900s style as he includes tight fitting tops and extravagant bottoms, flattering the slim waist.  Rolland also adds a provocative nature to some of the outfits with sheer panels, to look like cutouts.
