Spring-Summer 2013 – Never one to follow the trend, Rick Owens made his mark like he always does by gravitating away from the common trends to make something unorthodox; take for instance the thick brushed hair. This time, he took to moving away from his quintessential dark and gothic look for a more (dare we say) feminine and light style. With clouds flouting from the catwalk entrance the clothes took on a puffed out proportion with elasticated hems for a scrunched up effect. The length was ultra long, dresses worn with maxi-skirts albeit it translucent ones, pertaining to the key layered look of the moment. The silhouette was inflated and came in soft grey and apricot hues along with metallic gold. Huge extravagant cape-like-gowns billowed around the girls – it was not a fitted shape however it did become more structured with sharp sleeves and discrete nipped in waists. Later there were bin-bag dresses under scaled jackets which exemplified the unique use of cloth; both theatrical and out-of-this-world.
