Rihanna’s co-designer Adam Selman to debut new line at NYFW

Posted on

Selman‘s one-off swimwear-inspired lycra pieces have already been included in editorials for Purple magazine; now he’s creating a whole line of athletic-inspired womenswear, including some kinky lingerie touches. “It’s sexy. It’s that fantasy woman but it’s also sporty,” Selman told WWD

Selman first met the singer via his stylist boyfriend Mel Ottenberg, who has himself styled a number of videos and shoots for Rihanna including “We Found Love” and “You Da One.”

They quickly became regular collaborators. Alongside his work as design director on the Rihanna for River Island line that hit stores earlier this year, Selman has also designed a number of one-off pieces for the star, including the all-black look she wore to sing at last year’s Victoria’s Secret runway show and the bejeweled bikini bras she’s wore at carnivals in her native Barbados.

Hitting a mid-range price point, Selman expects to offer dresses at around $400 at retail, and hopes to sell via Opening Ceremony, Barneys and Net-à-Porter.com.
