How to create a beauty room

Posted on

When thinking about aspirational living, some people may picture a spacious walk-in wardrobe with a dressing table and lots of storage. Although having one the size of a house may be strictly suited for the movies, there are ways you can achieve your own beauty space in your own home.

Benefits of a beauty or dressing room

One of the main attractions of having a dedicated getting-ready space is the storage aspect. Cramming all your clothes into a wardrobe in your bedroom will be a thing of the past. Not only will you have more room in your bedroom, but decluttering will allow your bedroom to feel calmer and more peaceful which is important for good sleep.

Having a beauty room will also help to keep your clothes in a good condition. By having more spacious storage you will be able to hang your clothes properly which will decrease wrinkles and damage occurring.

Add storage

Sometimes it can be hard to fit effective storage in odd spaces such as your box room. By investing in some wardrobes which are made for box bedrooms, you can make the most out of the space you have and keep your belongings looking their best.

You may want to get multifunctional storage items, especially if the space you are looking at is tight. One way to save space is to have a shoe rack that hangs on the back of your door. Not only is this saving space, but it will also keep your shoes tidy and together. Alternatively, you could account for shoe shelves in your custom wardrobes.

Add lighting

Lighting is important in any room, but it is especially important when you are doing your make-up.

The wrong lighting can distort the actual look of your face, so you may be wearing a foundation shade that is too dark or too light, or not have your eyeshadows properly blended. Incorrect lighting can also create shadows on your face where there normally wouldn’t be any. As a result, you will correct them with make-up which then won’t translate in natural lighting outside.

Investing in good-quality lights will benefit the room as a whole. Correct lighting will help to illuminate the space and make the colour of your clothes look more vibrant. This will allow you to style yourself properly and pull off a cohesive look.

Keep it clean

It can be easy to fall into the trap of leaving little jobs, expecting you will do them later and then winding up not doing them.

Keeping your beauty room tidy will help to keep your morning routine as smooth as possible. To keep on top of things, you may want to devise a system to help. Think about organising your makeup so that the things that are going to run out sooner are within reach with replacements behind them. Having a discreet bin in the room near your makeup station will also remind you to pop things in there rather than leaving them on a counter.
