Chaired by philanthropist Tania Fares and fashion editor Kim Hersov, the British Fashion Council Fashion Trust provides financial support for designers, as well as mentoring, networking and investment opportunities.

The 2014 recipients were named this week, with some of the most exciting names in British fashion set to receive a year of support. Emilia Wickstead, House of Holland, Mary Katrantzou, Michael van der Ham, Richard Nicoll, Osman, Todd Lynn and Zoe Jordan will all take a share of the £215,000 (approx $340,000) prize fund.

“The support of the BFC Fashion Trust has been invaluable to my company and the future of our business. Not only have they provided tailored support and advice from experienced industry professionals and advisors, but they have enabled us to take our sales in house and retain the services of a Celebrity PR agency, who are already increasing the profile of the brand, internationally,” explained Nicoll who, like Katrantzou, has been a previous recipient of the award.

London’s fashion scene has grown steadily over the past decade with designers J.W. Anderson and Christopher Kane both receiving heavyweight investment from luxury giants LVMH and Kering (respectively).
