Victoria Beckham X Target Collaboration

Victoria Beckham’s springtime collaboration with Target is drawing attention, most recently with the confirmation that the collection will include sizes up to XXXL, or UK 24. The designer has been criticised in the past for the slenderness of the models she uses, and her designs tend to be directed at slimmer figures.

Featuring over 200 pieces, the Victoria Beckham x Target collaboration will include pieces for women, as well as Beckham’s first venture into designs for children, toddlers and babies. Pulling influences from her Victoria, Victoria Beckham line, the designer cites her daughter as another source of inspiration for the collaboration.

Classic, springy patterns are a main focus, classified into five collections, including “clever bunny” and “floral pop”. Each collection features pieces for each age range, making mommy and me looks a certainty – though with less matching than what Hanna Andersson provides. “The inspiration behind this collection was fairytale, and really my life with Harper [Beckham’s five year old daughter], and what we do as mother and daughter,” Beckham explained in a video on Target’s website. “Not just in regards to the clothes, but I’ve created some little color books and sticker books, you know it’s things myself and Harper do, in England, together.”

Fun dresses, flirty tops and cool slacks are among the pieces designed for the women’s looks, in bright colors, charming prints and floral patterns. Scalloping, peplums and black accents intersect to ground the playful looks and make them wearable beyond a springtime garden party.

Another departure from Beckham’s usual work is the price range, starting at $6 and peaking at $70, with most pieces costing under $40. “I felt it was the perfect time to extend into a more accessible price point and to celebrate both milestones” Beckham said in a statement, referencing Harper’s fifth birthday and the anniversary of her brand. Target’s designer collaborations have been popular, offering designer names at a more attainable price for many shoppers. Altuzarra, Peter Pilotto, Marimekko and Eddie Borgo are among the designers who have previously collaborated with the company. The Victoria Beckham x Target collaboration will be available beginning April 9 in Target stores and at Target.com, with select pieces offered on Victoria Beckham’s website victoriabeckham.com.
