Proenza Schouler

Proenza Schouler Woman Autumn-Winter 2017-18 – When Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez of Proenza Schouler announced that this New York Fashion Week would be their last for a while, in favour of heading to Paris, they had to make sure to go out with a bang.

The Fall collection was mixture of androgynous styles, styling and make up, with a few sparkly and feminine dresses thrown in for good measure at the end.

The clothes were as deconstructed as their surroundings, many had an edgy and artfully unfinished edge, with raw hems and asymmetric tailoring, which felt fitting given the rugged, industrial setting.

Shiny leather that was verging on vinyl was a popular choice in dresses and trousers, from black to silver, all the way to baby pink, alongside magenta and sequinned dresses, stood out from the monochromatic theme and rubble strewn floor.

Aside from asymmetric hemlines and deconstructed tailoring, classic combinations such as crisp shirts and high waisted tailored trousers, were often paired together. Oversized flared tops with masculine cigarette trousers created a false pear shape for many of the models, but the lack of tight clothing was a common theme throughout. There wasn’t a tight skirt in sight in lieu of fitted top halves, in asymmetric or wrap around style, which gave way to flowing, long skirts.
