Spring-Summer 2012 – The show was short and sweet; sweet being the key word here. We saw sea, pastel and candy colours from the Ready-to-Wear collections disperse onto the Versace show. With just fifteen looks, each piece was an impressive display of evening wear and dressmaking. The outfits presented were structured, such, shoulders were contoured and peplums were rigid, hair was slicked back into tight ponytails, shoes had leather tongues that ascended the shins, and along with deep, smoky eyes, the imagery evoked that of the driven, domineering and powerful woman. Even so, the corseted, fitted and full length dresses were created with sheer fabric and soft embellishment to establish elegance and beauty. The acid yellow, tangerine orange and lime green dresses were fun and frivolous showing Versace still has the perfect combination of sophistication and soiree.
