Autumn-Winter 2012/13 – The pared-down look of couture fashion week was cemented with the beginning of Armani’s collection, before manifesting into a spectacular assortment of evening-wear. The constant here was the array of midnight-come-moonlight shades ranging from deep blue hues to softer baby blue shades, along with delicate creams and lilac tones. The refined look was incredibly sophisticated as velvet slack trousers were worn with restructured blazers for a more modern approach. Tops incorporated both soft and slightly crinkled sleeves and sharper edges, all creating a polished finish. The slight shimmer to the clothes, in particular the streamline dresses, created an enchanting tenor and were in keeping with the moonlike vision. Tassels and sequins – a predominant trend in Paris – donned skirts, veiled masks, and grand necklaces, and more decorative, splendid, evening gowns, sparkling from head to toe. The finale dresses were the pinnacle of the couture week we know best – over the top, but indicative to the grandeur of these fashion houses.
