Autumn – Winter 2013/14

We all expect wild and wonderful things of Vivienne Westwood and her Red Label has been cause for controversy and delight for seasons now. As Vivienne’s heavily made up models took to the catwalk in the dramatic Saatchi Gallery her signature outlandish influence was evident but the collection was noticeably more refined and wearable.

Looks ranged from knickerbockers to jersey dresses and dramatic full skirts. Vivienne’s curvaceous tailoring had a clear presence throughout the collection and added a seductive element to the designs. The pieces were off beat, colourful and stand out but could translate effortlessly into a fashion conscious womens wardrobe. The designer has a well practised knack of taking an item we all thought we knew inside out and ripping it apart and starting again, in this way knit dresses, ankle boots and check were all given a new lease of life and have become once again, the height of appeal.

The collection was infused with Vivienne’s personality and loudly proclaimed the designers political stance, demanding a higher moral code from the audience as ethically made boots stomped down the catwalk.
