Julien Macdonald

Autumn-winter 2013 – 14

Amongst the glamour and prestige of Goldsmiths Hall stalwart of British Fashion Julien Macdonald made a triumphant return to LFW. After taking a two-season break to focus on ‘Julien Macdonald Bespoke’ this light, glamorous collection showed the true craftsmanship and talent of the celebrated designer. The collection was full of designs dripping with Julien’s signature sexy, high impact aesthetic. The designer combined high-octane glamour and seductive tailoring with a colour way fit for a femme fatale to achieve a collection of aspirational heights.

Being unashamedly dedicated to all that glitters Julien’s show was always set to contrast with the decidedly graphic cool that populates London Fashion Week, and this collection didn’t disappoint. Glitter adorned dress after dress, interrupting the overtly sexy looks. The front row watched wide-eyed as tassels and feather waved from maxi dresses and plunging glitter-lined necklines reached the navel.

A presentation of classic feminine glamour using all the best tricks in the book brought together with a pinch of finesse, Julien Macdonald has reminded us just why we love to dress up.
