Vivienne Westwood

Vivienne Westwood Women Spring Summer 2016

In Vivienne Westwood’s Venice themed show, a man wore a toga style red dress and girls modelled mannish tailoring.  Vivienne loves to subvert ideals, and this quirky collection was no exception.  Florals, complicated patterns and drapery were used to make up the garments, and copious amounts of badges were pinned onto a schoolgirl style blazer, the model’s eyebrows dyed shocking red.  Westwood being never one to shy away from humour, one amusing factor of the show was the blue coat worn as a headpiece.

There was an element of circus party in the air as models marched down the catwalk in distressed clothing with rips exposing their skin underneath and harlequin patterns in black and red adorning suits.  Of course, Westwood’s punk rock aesthetic was present in the models’ brightly coloured hair (hair braids were also spotted!), neon clownish make up, and avant garde clothing.
